Bosz, Dortmund’s new boss, faces severe test as he tries to revitalize squad for next season

A new coach could mean a new direction for Borussia Dortmund.

Well, just should be the case when Peter Bosz takes command next season.

The 53-year-old Dutchman took over the reins from Thomas Tuchel despite the latter leading the squad to the German Cup title and third-placed finish the past campaign.

But disgareements with Dortmund honchos appeared to be the straw that Tuchel was axed.

In comes Bosz.

He took Ajax to an unsuccessful Europa League final against Manchester United last season, while the squad wound up second in the Eredivisie.

Satisfactory enough if you would ask the Dortmund management as they believe the disciple of the late Johan Cruyff’s style of football could revitalize Dortmund.

The new boss, who had just one season with Ajax, inked a two-year deal with Dortmund recently and his €5 million salary makes him the Bundesliga’s most expensive manager ever.

Maybe because he is familiar with German football, well yeah, that could be one of the major reasons why he was hired.

During his playing days as midfielder, he spent a year with Hansa Rostock, he also speaks perfect German and understands the ins and outs of the German top-tier tournament.

Tuchel, the man he succeeded, had rifts with Dortmudn management. In the same breadth, Bosz had similar spats with Ajax big guns.

Now, it will be interesting to see if Bosz can strike a harmonious accord with Dortmund CEO Hans Joachim Watzke and sporting director Michael Zorc.

Well, having hired him should lead us to speculate that he can make those higher than him in the echelon happy.

But as everybody believes, the results in the coming season will define his status at the club.

Can Bosz live up to their expectations? Can he improve on the club’s performance?

But most of all, can he stand up to pressure?
