Digital Chaos’ midlaner Abed “Abed” Yusop became the first player ever to acquire a Match Making Ranking of 10,000.
In the race for the first five-digit MMR, the 16-year-old Filipino beat out stars from the international scene, including Team Liquid’s Amer “Miracle-“ Barqawi, who was the first player to breach the 9,000 MMR mark a year ago.
Abed is one of the fastest rising midlaners in the world, with a hero pool that includes staple midlane heroes like Queen of Pain, Ember Spirit, Shadow Fiend and Outworld Devourer, though he is best known for his micro-controlling skills with Meepo the Geomancer and his base-to-base Grapple with Storm Spirit.
Aside from Miracle, the former Execration midlaner also defeated China’s Zhang “Paparazi” Chengjun of iG.Vitality, who was initially on pace to become the first to breach the 10K-mark, and Secret’s midlaner Zheng “MidOne” Yeik Nai from the EU server.
The youngster’s achievements were met with mixed criticisms, as many think that he was boosted by his DC teammates who counter-queued against him in the NA server and allowed him to win easily and reap MMR points by the bucket.
But there are those who still congratulate Abed for the MMR, as many felt his talents were suppressed by the SEA server, where there are many throwers and cancer players even in the 4k-6k MMR range.
Abed is yet to breakout team-wise in his pro-career, as most of his tournament wins were with Execration in SEA-exclusive tournaments.
He came to America and formed Onyx with veteran support Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho and reached the Kiev Major but placed only tied for last. The Phoenix, Arizona-based team also finished 5-6th in the ZOTAC Cup Masters in Taiwan and Dota Summit 7.
