Napoli favoured to advance to UCL group stage

Napoli look to finish the mission and take their spot in the Champions League group stage as they visit Nice at Allianz Riviera in the qualifying playoff.

A strike from Dries Mertens and an own goal from Jorginho helped the Italian club erect a comfortable 2-0 aggregate lead in the first leg at Stadio San Paolo.

With a small advantage, Napoli are expected to go all in as they travel to Southeast France and seal the qualification to Europe’s premier competition.

Napoli bring great form as they go north of Italy’s border, as they are fresh from their 3-1 drubbing of Hellas Verona at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi in Serie A.

Maurizio Sarri’s side put three past Hellas Verona in just 62 minutes in that win, thanks to an own goal from Samuel Souprayen, a strike from Arkadiusz Milik and a goal from Faouzi Ghoulam. Only a late penalty from Giampaolo Pazzini served as consolation for the hosts.

Nice, too, hold momentum of their own as they won their last home game in convincing fashion, defeating Guingamp 2-0 in Ligue 1.

Alassane Plea put Lucien Favre’s side ahead just before halftime 1-0, then Remi Walter doubled the advantage two minutes after the break and the hosts in Nice eventually earned the maximum three points.

In Nextbet, a win for Napoli is offered at 1.82, while a win for Nice is priced at 4.37.
