Real Madrid chief says Ronaldo will stay but final say is still with Los Blancos superstar

Real-Madrid-Cristiano-Ronaldo

Take it straight from someone who knows it all at Real Madrid.

Or rather, as the phrase goes, “straight from the horse’s mouth.’’

When Real Madrid president Florentino Perez does the talking, everyone at Real should listen, or believe. Or shouldn’t they?

Perez came up with news that is most welcome to those involved in and intrigued by the Cristiano Ronaldo brouhaha.

The Real main man is still in the news after he was alleged to have deceived Spanish tax authorities out of 14.7 million euros.

He has already denied such wrongdoing while rumours that he is contemplating on finding a new team next campaign swirled.

Ronaldo, as per reports coming from Spain, is said to be upset after getting not enough support from his team regarding the tax evasion charges.

The good news which Perez announced was Ronaldo is staying at the club.

Ronaldo was angered and hurt by the accusation, Perez said but added he will honour his contract with the Los Blancos.

As to the tax predicament of his top player, the Real chief shows his backing by praising the Portugal ace as a man of integrity and has fulfilled his duties with the highest professionalism.

“We are delighted that he is in Madrid. I believe he will stay,’’ Perez revealed during a recent interview at Spanish radio network esRadio.

We all know how valuable Ronaldo is at the Santiago Bernabeu club where he has already spent eight seasons.

The 32-year-old, the reigning Ballon d’Or awardee, has helped the capital side win three Champions League trophies three times and two La Liga titles.

So when do we finally know the real score about Ronaldo?

The best speculation or what has been widely-circulated is that we will have a clear answer after the Confederations Cup in Russia where the Ronaldo-led Portugal lost to Chile after a penalty shootout 0-3 in the semi-finals on Thursday.

If talks between him, his agent Jorge Mendes, Perez and the rest of Real management bog down, Premier League giants Manchester United where he once strutted his wares and Ligue 1 powerhouse Paris Saint Germain are both willing to embrace him with open arms.

Until then, those who hope that Perez’s pronouncement comes true are also probably praying to football gods that Ronaldo won’t turn his back on the Spanish champions.

However, in the event Ronaldo finally says he wants to leave, expect a frenetic tug-of-war between United and PSG to ensue in tempting him to wear their colours next season.
