ACID TEST: Chelsea boss Conte says Atletico game a test for Blues

Chelsea have returned to the Champions League this season after winning the Premier League last term, but the real test on whether they can compete in the European stage will be their match against Atletico Madrid, according to manager Antonio Conte.

Conte’s men are currently leading Group C in the Champions League after beating Azerbaijan side Qarabag, but the Italian boss believes Atletico are the real team-to-beat in the group.

“Atletico are a really good team with great experience,” said Conte of the Rojiblancos, who reached the Champions League finals in two of the last four seasons.

“They always play a great competition and to reach the finals of the Champions League is not simple, it means you are strong and able to have a good tournament.

“It is important to play this type of game against one of the best teams in the Champions League to understand where we are.”

Prices for the match between the two domestic giants are offered in Nextbet, along with all the Champions League meetings this week.

Atleti won two of their last three meetings with Chelsea, though all three fixtures were played before Conte arrived last year, and their latest clash at Vicente Calderon ended in a scoreless stalemate.

A win for the hosts in Spain is offered at 2.14, while a draw is backed at 3.31 and an away win for the Blues is priced at 3.84.

Chelsea will enter the fixture with six wins in their past seven games, and the only blotch on the record is a scoreless draw with Arsenal.

The Blues put six past Qarabag, scored five against Nottingham Forest in a League Cup match, and thrashed Stoke City 4-0.

Atleti, on the other hand, haven’t tasted a loss this season, but they have also had problems scoring in games this season, as evident in their nil-nil draw with Italian club AS Roma in their first Champions League match.

A scoreline under 2.0 goals pays 2.09 in Nextbet, while a scoreline over 2.0 goals pays 1.81.
