Arsene Wenger motivated to continue

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists he is still “very motivated” to continue as a manager despite the recent criticism he has endured.

The Frenchman is under severe pressure after a difficult few weeks in north London. The Gunners were in the title race in January but back-to-back defeats to Watford and Chelsea cost them dear.

They were then beaten 10-2 on aggregate by Bayern Munich in the Champions League and their performances have left Wenger vulnerable.

He has refused to resign at present but even Wenger’s most loyal fans are now questioning his role at the club.

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique recently confirmed his decision to step down due to the pressure but Wenger is adamant he can continue to coach at a high level.

“I feel all right, I feel very strong, very motivated, ready to give my best,” Wenger told reporters.

“It just sums it up that two weeks ago he (Enrique) was an idiot and everyone said ‘You have to leave’, so he said, ‘Okay, I go’.

“Today he is a hero. That sums up the job. In fact I made an equation because I am a mathematical fan that I will give you one day. It’s not the right moment (to share it). I am sure you will enjoy it. It is an equation about a manager’s job. I made a formula.”

Wenger’s side will take on Lincoln in the FA Cup this weekend and they can be backed at 4.00 to win the competition this season.
