Bayern out to impose authority over Wolfsburg as another win is seen at Allianz Arena

If Bayern Munich, the defending champions, can claim an easy win in the Bundesliga this season, that could be against Wolfsburg.

That is easy to say for obvious reasons.

Bayern has beaten Wolfsburg in their last five head-to-head meetings, three of them in the league and the other two in the DFB Pokal.

Two of those wins were at Wolfsburg, including their last meeting that ended in a 6-0 massacre.

Their last encounter at Bayern, the DFB Pokal, was a tamer 1-0 win but before that, Bayern ran riot again in a 5-0 victory.

Manager Ancelotti, we presume, will have one main instruction to his men “don’t let your guards down.’’

Wolfsburg may be favourite whipping boys for them but as we have known time and again, upset cannot be discounted. Everything happens in football, so they say.

A powerhouse lineup is fearsome enough for Wolfsburg manager Martin Scmidt and his men as they may be routed in enemy territory.

Robert Lewandowski, the leading league scorer as of this writing, is at the vanguard of Bayern attack.

He will get ample backing from an array of stars like of Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller, Franck Robery, James Rodriguez, Joshua Kimmich, Mats Hummels and David Alaba, among others.

Bayern’s last match at home resulted in a 4-0 rout of Mainz 05, with Lewandowski producing a brace, while Muller and Robben scored a goal each.

Wolfsburg’s last win over Bayern was in August 2015, when they won on penalties in the German Super Cup.

We are predicting this match as another win for the hosts, an easy one for that matter.

For this showdown, a Bayern win is worth 1.15, while a Wolfsburg win pays 14.00. A draw returns 5.20.

If another 4-0 win for the hosts ensues, it will pay 9.00.
