CHELSEA are weighing up a move for Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul as a replacement for Asmir Begovic, according to reports.
Chelsea have reportedly sanctioned Asmir Begovic’s move to Bournemouth and they are in the market for a back-up goalkeeper.
Thibaut Courtois is firmly No 1, but with 34-year-old Eduardo the only other goalkeeper on their books, the Blues reportedly want more cover.
The Guardian claim Antonio Conte has a list of potential suitors, including Newcastle’s Tim Krul.
Krul is currently on loan at Ajax from St James’ but is yet to make a single competitive appearance for the Dutch club.
The report says the Holland international is an option and would be viable due to his vast Premier League experience.
Also on Conte’s wishlist is AC Milan shotstopper Diego Lopez who has fallen out of favour at the San Siro.
The 35-year-old’s move, however, would be complicated as he is currently on a season-long loan with Espanyol.
And he may not be willing to sit on the bench at Stamford Bridge, having made 16 La Liga appearances already this season.
Chelsea’s final option is delay Begovic’s move to Bournemouth until the summer when they will have more time to source a replacement.
