Claudio Ranieri: Leicester underdogs for Millwall clash

Claudio Ranieri

Claudio Ranieri believes Premier League champions Leicester City will be underdogs when they tackle League One side Millwall in the FA Cup.

The Foxes travel to the Den to face Millwall with a heavy threat of relegation from the Premier League hanging over them.

Leicester’s only wins so far in 2017 have come in the FA Cup against Everton and Derby County. They are loitering just one point above the relegation zone, nine months on from their historic title win.

Ranieri admitted earlier this week that staying in the Premier League is the top target for Leicester despite an FA Cup quarter-final spot being up for grabs against Millwall as well as a Champions League last-16 tie with Sevilla in midweek.

The Italian expects to make 10 changes to his starting side for the game against the Lions, who are currently sixth in English football’s third tier.

“All my team is new and there will be 10 changes again,” Ranieri said.

“Millwall have beaten two Premier League teams. We know this and we are underdogs. If they beat Bournemouth and Watford, they are above us.

“Our target is the Premier League – that is it. Of course we play in the FA Cup and Champions League and we want to do our best, but our aim is to be safe at the end.”

Ranieri points to the fact Millwall have not lost a game since mid-December as proof they’ll serve it up to his Leicester side, no matter what team he elects to put out.

Leicester are 2.50 to beat Millwall, who are 2.88, with the draw priced at 3.30.
