David Moyes hoping to catch City at a good time

David Moyes

David Moyes is pinning his hopes on Manchester City’s visit to Sunderland coming at a good time for the Black Cats.

Pep Guardiola’s side arrive at the Stadium of Light on Sunday beginning a run of five games in fourteen days.

They have Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup commitments to tend to and Moyes hopes that maybe his players will catch the Citizens with their guard down.

The Scot does concede however that Sunderland will need to be on their toes to stand any chance.

“You have to have two or three different game plans because City can play in many ways with many different players,” said Moyes.

“You never know in the Premier League. City have a busy programme and they have to come up here with a lot of other games on the horizon.”

Sunderland go into the game bottom of the Premier League pile, having won just one game in their previous nine.

Going into the weekend’s games, just five points separate the bottom six teams and Moyes feels his players are displaying the right kind of attitude to suggest they can once again help the club beat the drop.

“We’ve been fighting and we’re in with a few teams. What we’re trying to do is build, but first and foremost stay in the Premier League,” he added.

“The players are doing everything they can – in training and in games – to stay in the Premier League. If they keep doing that we’ll have a great chance.”

Sunderland are 10.00 to beat Man City while they are 1.14 to be relegated to the Championship.
