Elliott Bennett wants to make the most of the international break

Blackburn winger Elliott Bennett believes it is vital his side use the international break to their advantage ahead of the final weeks of the Championship season.

Rovers have been in impressive form since Tony Mowbray was appointed manager last month, as they are unbeaten in their last seven matches, picking up two wins and five draws.

Those results have boosted the Blue and Whites’ chances of survival, although they remain in the bottom three, and former Norwich ace Elliott believes the signs are positive that the club can preserve their Championship status.

“To be honest without winning as many as we should have done, we have been playing really well and I think there has been some really positive signs,” said Bennett.

Mowbray has not had much time to work with his players since succeeding Owen Coyle as manager, but Bennett believes the international break has provided the perfect opportunity for the former Celtic boss to get his ideas across.

“So we just wanted to continue that really, but we’ve got the international break now so we’ve got a lot of time to work on things on the training ground,” Bennett added.

“We haven’t really had that much time with the manager because obviously the games have been coming thick and fast, but we’ll use this time now to really implement what he wants on a matchday.”

Blackburn’s first match after the international break is a trip to The Amex to take on promotion-chasers Brighton & Hove Albion on April 1.

Rovers are priced at 6.00 to secure all three points from the match, while Brighton are available at 1.57 and the draw is on offer at 3.75.
