Jozy Altidore, Sebastian Giovinco help Toronto down Orlando 3-1

Jozy Altidore opened the scoring, and Sebastian Giovinco completed a second-half brace as Toronto went back to their winning ways as they beat Orlando 3-1 at Orlando City Stadium in the Major League Soccer.

Toronto, who lost their last game to Dallas 1-3, moved back to the top of the Eastern Conference after their victory over Orlando with 38 points in 19 games. But Chicago, who has a game as of press time, can swing back to the apex with a victory over Portland.

Greg Vanney’s men put up incredible pressure early on and capitalized on the magic-making plays of Giovinco, who had a hand in all three goals in the victory.

Toronto worked the ball through the centre of the field until it reached Giovinco, who turned the ball to the middle of the box then fed an open Altidore, who touched the ball once before rolling it past Joseph Bendik for the opener.

Altidore returned the favour after the break, when he attacked hard to draw the defense to himself then sent the ball to Giovinco, who looped it over Bendik to make it 2-0 in just 46 minutes.

Carlos Rivas drove home Kaka’s through ball in the 63rd minute to pull one back for the hosts.

But Giovinco wanted to seal the win two minutes later, and emphatically did so when his curling free-kick from well outside the box looped high before finding its way into the top-right corner of Bendik’s goal.

Altidore and Giovinco, the 2015 MVP, each have seven goals in the season. Altidore also has four assists.
