Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has said Monaco’s free-scoring teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe has all the qualities “to make a great career”.
The 18-year-old has launched himself on to the radar of continental Europe’s powerhouses by scoring 19 goals in all competitions so far this season – and seven in his last five appearances – for the Principality outfit.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said recently a dream all-French strike duo of Karim Benzema and Mbappe “is possible” and the Ligue 1 leaders know they will face a huge fight to keep hold of the youngster.
Lloris said he was impressed with how the teenager, who could make his France debut against Luxembourg on Saturday, had divorced himself from speculation about his future but it is clear the Bondy-born talent has a big future head of him.
“He is being talked about everywhere, even in England,” the goalkeeper told reporters.
“His performances made a lot of noise but I find him quite detached and serene in relation to all of that.”
The White Hart Lane stopper added: “He shows great maturity at his young age. It is true that what he does in Monaco is quite impressive. It’s a good sign for the future.
“If he continues to work and get involved for the team, he has all the qualities to make a great career.”
International minnows Luxembourg are currently priced 29.00 to win in 90 minutes at Stade Josy Barthel and the draw is quoted 13.00, Didier Deschamps’ men are available to back at 1.04.
