Joshua pens new Matchroom deal

Anthony Joshua has signed a new three-year promotional contract with Matchroom as he bids to continue his unbeaten start to professional boxing.

The heavyweight fighter has a perfect 14-0 record since his first bout as a professional in October 2013 and all of his victories have come via knockout.

The Olympic gold medallist has secured that impressive record under the guidance of promoter Eddie Hearn and he has confirmed that there was never any doubt as to whether he would sign the new deal.

He said: “I have been part of the Matchroom family for a number of years now and I am really excited that the relationship will be continuing. They have an exceptional and passionate team from Eddie downwards.”

Hearn is also delighted that the 26-year-old will continue to work with Matchroom and he is looking forward to helping the Brit achieve his goal of becoming heavyweight champion of the world.

Hearn said: “Anthony has already become one of the hottest commodities in world sport and we are blessed with the responsibility of helping to guide Anthony Joshua to the world heavyweight title and ultimately unifying the division.”

Joshua’s next bout comes against bitter rival Dillian Whyte on December 12 when he will be fighting to defend his commonwealth title and secure the British heavyweight crown for the first time.
