Koita Fires Message to Bowyer

Gary Bowyer Blackburn Rovers

The summer signing from Caen made his return from a hamstring injury as a late substitute in the goalless draw at Birmingham City and is desperate to force his way into Bowyer’s plans.

The former France Under-21 international said: “I’m really happy to be back involved and I hope I’m not injured again.

“It was a bad period but now I’m back and I hope to stay with the team, work hard, score goals, and help them win game after game.”

His hopes of an immediate return have been dented by the blossoming partnership between eight-goal top-scorer Jordan Rhodes and loan signing Tom Lawrence. Lawrence has not scored since the 3-0 home win against Charlton but Koita knows the Leicester City striker has earned his place in the side.

“When I was injured Tom Lawrence did some really good games and good work,” the 25-year-old told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“Now I’ve come back I hope I will work together with Jordan and the rest of my team-mates.

“But the most important thing in this moment in time is that we have found confidence and we are winning games.

“My personal situation is second. The first thing is the team. When the gaffer needs me, I’ll be ready to play.”
