Celtic have confirmed Leigh Griffiths has signed a new long-term deal to keep him at the club until the summer of 2021.
The striker joined the Bhoys from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2014 and has so far netted 46 goals at Parkhead.
Although he has had to share the lone striker’s role with summer signing Nadir Ciftci in recent months, he has still managed to net 19 times already this season.
During his time at Parkhead he has so far won two Scottish Premiership titles and the Scottish League Cup, and with the Bhoys currently four points clear, looks set to make it a hat-trick of league crowns.
Having netted in the 3-1 win at Inverness Caledonian Thistle last time out, the 25-year-old will be keen to continue his form after his side saw their game called off last weekend due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Scotland international says he is loving life at the club and is excited about playing in front of the expectant Parkhead crowd over the next five years.
“I love putting the Celtic top on every time and feeling that expectation to win every week,” he told the club’s official website.
“I’m looking forward to the next five years in the Hoops as we look to add to the trophies already won.”
