Silva talks up PSG chances

PSG Thiago Silva

Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva believes his side can do “something great” when they take on Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The two teams drew 0-0 at the Parc des Princes earlier in the group stage and if either is victorious at the Bernabeu they will go a long way to securing their place in the knockout stages of this year’s competition.

The goalless draw against the Spanish giants is PSG’s only dropped points in their last eight matches in all competitions and their skipper is confident they can secure a famous victory against Los Blancos.

Silva said: “Winning was the most important thing, even if we did not have a very good game. We will reflect on what there is to do better, because we have the chance to do something in Madrid.”

Laurent Blanc’s side beat Rennes 1-0 in Ligue 1 on Friday to extend their unbeaten start to the league campaign to 12 matches and Silva is convinced his side can take their winning form into their crunch clash in the Spanish capital.

He added: “We have a lot of respect for this team, but we can do something great there. Even players who aren’t used to playing had a good game [on Friday].”
